Life in a capsule
I haven't been in touch with anyone from HHS since I dropped out and left for Nam in 1963. While in the military, I finished my HH senior year through correspondence courses and actually graduated with the HHS class of '68! Since on the HHS official records I'm a graduate of the Class of '68, can I be considered a member of the Class of '64? At the end of my tour I married a girl from Cleveland Heights. I met Alice on a plane home for a Christmas leave. A couple of years later, 1967, we were married in Palo Alto, Calif. and have now been married for over 36 years. We have one son, 28. We live in Oro Valley, Arizona, a small town just north of Tucson.
After the service, I went California State University, Long Beach and graduated summa cum laude. Perhaps I worked a little harder at my studies because of the stigma of being a dropout. But that's a long, long time ago. I spent over 20 years in the Tucson Police Department doing something of everything such as the Internal Affairs Commander, Special Investigations Commander, Tactical Operations Commander, Patrol Commander, Police Training Academy Supervisor, etc. and retired from that about 7 1/2 years ago. Alice is a registered nurse and still works part time in the Tucson Medical Center Hospice unit. I spend my time writing (check out RedColony.com for a recent article titled Mars One-Way), working out, sucking iced lattes (it's hot in Tucson!), reading, and we try to travel a lot.
